Process Painting Pictures - Monster Bird

Another process pictures of my work on the Monster bird creature I made during my time in school at the Tom Savini's Special Effects Make-up program.  It took me a few weeks to figure out what color scheme I wanted and then maybe a month total to paint. I wasn't sure where I wanted to go but as you can see in the bottom two pictures he had a kind of purplish tone to him at first, though I really liked how that I was going, I ended up going with the warmer tones instead.

Sketch - Monster Bird

A sketch I did for my Advance Mold Making class. We had the whole semester to do it and we could choose to do a bust or a Halloween type mask and I decided to do a large bust. :) So I went with this design that was inspired by Jim Henson's Dark Crystal.

Process pictures

I didn't take many process pictures my little creature but here are a few. Top picture is of the blocking process and the other two pictures are basically the finished product. He was baked and ready to be painted, I kind of miss him all naked like this.

A few months back I painted a monster eye for school, trying out some new acrylic to give the eye a more clear look.
